Project Analysis
The Objective
To design a paperwork system to support internet based software specifically aimed at the charity retail sector to maximise on existing opportunities for claiming millions of pounds in Gift Aid on donated goods.
Insights
The charity shop sector is extensive in the UK. Members of the public take their donated items directly to the shops or have them collected by the charity van collection scheme.
Strategic Challenge
Charity shops are staffed by employees as well as volunteers, the system had to be easily understood by everyone.
Concept
A simple yet comprehensive suite of forms to support the software and personalised to the individual charities which have signed up the process.
Result
An ‘off the shelf’ solution for charities and hospice shops using the system.
By the end of 2010 the system is being used by more than 80 organisations within the charity sector and it is anticipated that this number will grow to over 100 by the end of 2011.
The system has already been extremely successful raising in excess of £10million for the participating organisations.
